The program will help 230 young people who are completing year 11 or 12 in 2017 and are experiencing financial hardship. Each student will receive a $1,100 grant to assist with their educational expenses.

The Student Scholarship program provides funds for items such as text books, computer equipment, public transport, disability aids or other specialist equipment.

Nominations close on 24 June 2016. Nominees must be under the age of 21, living in public or community housing and completing VCE or VCAL at a Victorian Government secondary school or TAFE.

The program is administered on behalf of the department by Kids Under Cover, a not-for-profit organisation working to tackle youth homelessness.
