Adoption and Permanent Care Standards 1986

Adoption standards establish the directions in which services are to be developed, and the functions and practices of agencies in providing adoption services.

These standards define and describe an accepted level of practice and establish consistent and congruent functions for service delivery. They provide a basis for professional practice and set expectations on agency procedures. The standards are bound up, therefore, with the question of the quality of adoption services.
