Chapter 6 Rental rebates August 2012 - Fixed rent

The Office of Housing provides a 16-week 'grace period' from rent increases for Office of Housing tenants and residents living in Neighbourhood Renewal Areas who obtain employment or participate in the Community Jobs Program (and have been unemployed for at least six months in the last 12 months).

The aim of this policy is to provide an opportunity for them to 'get ahead' before their new income is included in rent assessment, and recognises that additional costs may arise when commencing employment.
