Date published: 2009-08-06 14:12:14
Abuse involving older people is a complex social problem which requires careful and considered responses.
Many health and community care workers involved with older people encounter abusive situations. In recognition of this the Department of Human Services has updated its 1995 elder abuse publication by launching With respect to age - 2009.
With respect to age - 2009 is aimed at workers supporting older people in a range of settings, including:
- senior managers and service coordinators
- doctors
- allied health workers
- nurses
- counsellors
- case managers
- carers
- workers in CALD and Aboriginal services.
The guide is being rolled out via 45 information sessions from July to September 2009. To register for the information sessions contact Australian Healthcare Associates or telephone 1300 788 667.
Hardcopies of the publication can be obtained through the DHS appointed distribution centre by emailing Laura Tavian, detailing quantity and delivery details.
