Short course: Qualitative research - an essential tool in primary care research

This course aims to address:

  • what is primary care qualitative research?
  • how is a qualitative research study designed?
  • data collection in qualitative primary care research
  • data analysis in qualitative primary care research
  • the use of software versus theory in qualitative analysis (optional extra day).

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • describe the key approaches and methods of qualitative primary care research
  • explain ethical considerations in design and application of methods
  • be familiar with a range of analytical methods and theories for analysis
  • understand differences in qualitative software programs
  • apply a theory of analysis to an example of qualitative research.
