Regional workshops: have your say on best practice in clinical education

In 2008–09 the Best Practice Clinical Learning Environments (BPCLE) project identified the key elements of high-quality clinical education experiences and developed a framework to guide health services and education providers to achieve optimal clinical training environments for learners.
The framework was developed through consultation with universities, public acute hospitals and learners from seven health professional disciplines: medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, social work and speech therapy.
Regional workshops
The next phase of the project will be a series of 2 hour consultation workshops in each of the five DHS regions as well as two metropolitan locations. The workshops will be held in November and will seek feedback on:
- the applicability of the framework to a range of health service settings other than public acute hospitals
- the applicability of the framework to a wider range of health professional disciplines (including aboriginal health workers, allied health assistants, dental workers, dieticians, division 2 nurses, psychologists, audiologists, health information managers and other healthcare disciplines)
- how the implementation of the framework can most appropriately be measured and monitored.
Forum dates and information on how to register will be published on the project website as they become available. Stakeholders unable to attend the workshops can provide a written submission on the topics being discussed by 29 November 2009 to Naomi Byrne-Soper. Copies of the final report, the framework and the framework indicators are available on the project website.
