Pacific tsunami and Indonesian earthquake assistance

The recent earthquake in the South Pacific Ocean which resulted in a tsunami affecting Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga and the earthquakes in Sumatra, Indonesia has had a devastating impact on the people in these countries and their families and relatives in Victoria.
People who have concerns for the welfare of family and friends should first attempt to contact them directly or call the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre on (02) 6261 3305 or within Australia on 1300 555 135 (for the cost of a local call).
The Victorian Government is providing a range of assistance and support measures for affected individuals and communities both in Victoria and within the affected countries.
