Intervention mapping: developing theory and evidence-based programs for health promotion and public health

The Monash Initiative for Global Health Improvement and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute are jointly hosting a visit to Australia by Professor Guy Parcel. Professor Parcel and Professor Brian Oldenburg (School of Public Health & Preventive Medicine) will conduct a 3-day short course on intervention mapping - an approach to the development, implementation and evaluation of public health and health promotion interventions.

Intervention Mapping offers a step-by-step program to make theory practical and to create effective public health and health promotion interventions, using the best information from the behavioral and social sciences.

The course is suitable for public health and health promotion practitioners, researchers and doctoral students. All participants will receive a copy of the most recent edition of Guy Parcel and colleagues textbook, Health Promotion Planning: An Intervention Mapping Approach.

Date: October 19-21, 2009

Venue: Rydges Hotel, North Melbourne (Cnr Harker & Flemington Roads, North Melbourne).
