Funding for Clinical Supervision

Date published: 2009-07-22 13:46:00

Learning in clinical environments is an essential part of training for health students. The funding is expected to initiate or increase the capacity of agencies to accommodate students undertaking clinical placements.

The Program Guidelines specify:

  • the aims of the program
  • which agencies are eligible to apply
  • partnership requirements
  • which health clinicians are eligible to access the training
  • training programs covered by the grant
  • assessment criteria
  • what applicants must provide
  • what support is available
  • the process and procedure for approval.

Applications for the grants are to be submitted to the Victorian Healthcare Association using the Clinical Supervision Grant Program Application Form, which can be accessed on the VHA website. Closing date for applications is September 7, 2009.

Strengthening partnerships between organisations is seen as key to increasing clinical placement quality and capacity, but also to provide a critical mass for purchasing supervision training. Applications that have established training networks or partnerships with other settings and facilities will therefore be given priority.

The total budget for the program is capped, therefore not all applicants that meet the criteria will necessarily be granted a subsidy or the total amount being sought.
