Cancer Council Victoria's Breasthealth training program

Who should attend: The course is for health and community workers who are new to the area of breast health and breast cancer, or who want to revise and update their skills and knowledge. Typical participants include Nurse Pap Test providers, community health nurses, maternal and child health nurses, BreastScreen information workers, breast care nurses, and anyone working in women’s health.
Why should I attend: The program provides the only comprehensive breast health education training opportunity for health and community workers in Victoria. It aims to give participants the skills and knowledge required to present breast health education to individuals and groups of women.
Topics covered include:
- breast anatomy
- breast changes through the lifecycle
- common breast changes and problems
- breast cancer and risk, including the role of genetics
- detecting breast cancer early: screening mammography and breast awareness
- working with women: tailoring breast education to suit the audience.
When: 9:15am to 4:30pm, Friday 23 October 2009.
Where: Latrobe Community Health Service, front meeting room, 85 Buckley St, Morwell.
Cost: $150 per person including training manual, resource pack, certificate and lunch.
