The Albury Wodonga project is aimed at establishing an integrated health service for the communities of Wodonga in Victoria and Albury in NSW. It is envisaged that this will initially involve the amalgamation of the two existing public health services in each state – a first for Australia. The project involves significant consultation and negotiation with NSW on a range of matters including funding arrangements, risk analysis and mitigation, industrial relations, legislative and legal frameworks and organisational arrangements and accountabilities in order to advise senior officers and Ministers in both jurisdictions. Ultimately any decision to proceed will be a whole of government matter in both states.
