Benefits of changing the PHFA
Based on information gathered by Healthcare Management Advisers, the Department of Human Services has revised the PHFA to achieve the following:
- Improve the transparency and equity of the funding allocation process;
- Simplify administration for organisations that are funded for like services through the Home and Community Care (HACC) program;
- Improve the approach to funding health promotion activities with more robust and meaningful indicators of performance;
- Recognise that overhead costs are integral to the cost of direct care and health promotion activities; and
- Improve accountability for public funds.
