Emergency Management

Emergency Management provides information and assistance to communities and municipalities affected by an emergency.

The role of the Department at the Regional level is to:

• Administer Personal Hardship Grants.
• Support the process of community re-development.
• Provide advice, information and assistance to affected communities and municipalities .
• Support the role of Community Recovery Committees.
• Provide overall operational co-ordination of the recovery process in the affected area.
• Co-ordinate the provision of personal support services and material aid.
• Convene the Regional Recovery Planning Committee.
• Initiate the state level emergency recovery response, as appropriate.
• Establish Regional Emergency Operations Centre if required
