Emergency Management
Emergency Management provides advice, information and assistance to communities and municipalities affected by an emergency event which endangers or threatens to endanger the safety or health of any person in Victoria.
In specific terms, the role of the Department at the Regional level is to:
- Administer Personal Hardship Grants.
- Co-ordinate the supply of temporary accommodation.
- Support the process of community re-development.
- Provide advice, information and assistance to affected communities and municipalities .
- Support the role of Community Recovery Committees.
- Provide overall operational co-ordination of the recovery process in the affected area.
- Co-ordinate the provision of personal support services and material aid.
- Co-ordinate as necessary the supply functions for recovery at affected area level.
- Convene the Regional Recovery Planning Committee and act as Regional Level Co-ordinator in the absence of the committee.
- Initiate the state level emergency recovery response, as appropriate.
