The Collaboration and Consultation Protocol for the Department of Human Services and the health, housing and community sector was launched at the sixth Secretary's Partnership Forum on the 25th of November 2004.
The aim of the Protocol is to advance the way the department and sector collaborate and consult in order to plan and deliver high quality services to the people of Victoria.
Objectives of the Protocol include:
- To ensure effective participation by the department, community organisations and peak bodies in collaborative processes.
- To ensure the right enabling processes are in place for meaningful consultation.
- To promote the effective use of collaborative processes.
Implementation of the Protocol includes the establishment of a central register of planned and current consultations being undertaken by the department. The aim of the central Collaboration and Consultation Register is to:
- Provide more accessible information to agencies about collaboration and consultation opportunities,
- Increase awareness of the range of consultations underway in the department and;
- Promote participation levels
