Regional gateway

Regional gateway and regional coordination

Regional Gateway - There is a single point of entry to a MACNI service response and this occurs through a Regional Gateway established in each of the DHS's eight regions.

The Gateway is managed by the Regional Coordinator, MACNI. The Regional Coordinator provides a single point of contact for a service provider, other body or individual seeking general information about the Initiative or wishing to discuss a potential referrer. The Regional Coordinator will work with the referrer to consider alternative support options available within local and state-wide service systems and if required to make a referral to MACNI.

Regional Panels - Regional panels are one of the key mechanisms among those used by regions for decision-making on the coordination of services to people with multiple and complex needs. Regional panels provide a regional focal point for partnership between services to provide flexible, coordinated service responses to eligible MACNI clients.

Some of the key roles for the regional panels include:

  • Consider the appropriateness of referrals to CERG for MACNI eligibility
  • Consider regional responses for individuals who do not meet the MACNI eligibility criteria or are not referred to the CERG
  • Ensure the appropriate assessment of eligible individuals' needs
  • Advise on and approve MACNI care plans
  • Approve the Care Plan Coordinator in partnership with relevant service providers
  • Approve allocation of regional brokerage
  • Monitor agreed service responses to individuals, including MACNI care plans through regular  review processes (minimum 6 monthly reviews)

Regional Coordinators provide a service to their regional panel which includes information management and sharing, supporting the implementation of panel decisions and administration, organisation and network support to ensure effective operations of each panel session.

Regional Panel Guidelines have been developed and can be accessed by clicking on the following:
