Complete your assessment
As part of the selection procedure, applicants will be required to participate in a Psychometric Questionnaire exercise. This will consist of answering several different questionnaires.
1. Psychometric testing
Psychometric testing is a strong predictor of success in child protection work. For example good team work, strong interpersonal and sound decision making skills are some of the many factors that are considered.
The department will not provide feedback to applicants on the test results. When attending the Psychometric Testing, you will be asked to sign a document which confirms that you understand that any type of feedback, written or oral, or a copy of the findings will not be made available to you under any circumstances.
Download the Sample Psychometric Testing Document [PDF, 17kb]. This is an example only and not the test that you will be given.
2. Frequently asked questions
The questionnaires are administered during each recruitment cycle. If you are shortlisted you will be invited to complete the questionnaires. Please make a note of these dates in anticipation of an invitation.
- Please bring proof of identification (for example a drivers licence and proof of your qualifications) with you to the session.
- Allow four hours to complete the tests.
Where are the questionnaires administered?
- Melbourne applicants - testing is administered by DFP Recruitment Services at their offices in central Melbourne.
- Rural applicants - testing is administered in the region the applicant has applied for work in, or the applicant may attend the DFP Recruitment Services offices in Melbourne.
How much time do the questionnaires take to complete?
Allow four hours to complete the tests. Some applicants find they complete the questionnaires sooner, others find that they need the full time.
