The Department directly manages services in the areas of:
The department has nine divisions that manage the areas of Disability, Children, Youth & families (which covers Child Protection and Youth Justice), Housing & Community Building, Public Health & Aged Care (both metropolitan and rural), Mental Health & Drugs, Portfolio Services & Strategic Projects, Financial & Corporate Services and Operations.
Staff in these divisions are employed in regions and head office locations and undertake policy development, research, planning, program advice, project management, contract management, legal advice, financial and budget management.
