Graduates, Scholarships, Traineeships & Apprenticeships
The Department of Human Services is committed to recruiting a diverse workforce that reflects our community. The department administers a number of programs that create pathways from education to recruitment which are open to a range of individuals such as university graduates, Indigenous students and school leavers interested in traineeships/ apprenticeships, a proportion of whom are sometimes long term unemployed from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Youth Employment Scheme (YES), which is targeted at school leavers aged between 15 and 24 leads to placements in the department as well as organisations that we fund.
The Graduate Recruitment Scheme (GRS) is a program run across all the departments in the Victorian Public Service, and involves placements across various departments.
InTrain is a scholarship program designed to assist Indigenous Australian students complete their 2nd and 3rd years of tertiary study. Job placements are offered within the department and the opportunity for ongoing employment.
