Subsidies

As part of YES, a wage subsidy of $4,500 (paid in two instalments) will be provided for each YES trainee employed full-time for 12 months.

For full-time apprenticeships, a wage subsidy of $7,500 (paid in three instalments) will be provided for each apprentice employed for three years.

For school based apprenticeships a subsidy of $1,800 (paid in one instalment) will be paid following completion.

These subsidies are in addition to any subsidies that might be available through the Commonwealth Government.

Aim of YES

  • Maximise the opportunities for long term unemployed and disadvantaged groups, including Indigenous – especially in rural and regional settings.
  • Target placements in critical areas of service delivery where there is an unmet need and difficulty in recruitment, such as nursing, aged care, disability services, housing, services
  • Maximise opportunities for ongoing employment – no commitment given but a priority objective
