Rotary InTrain Scholarships

About the Scholarship

Victorian Rotary Clubs with Australian Rotary Health and the Department of Human Services have formed a partnership to offer scholarships to the value of $5,000 to Koori applicants who have a commitment to completing either an Undergraduate Degree in Medicine or Health related courses.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and
  • Identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • Be accepted by the community in which he/she lives or has lived, and
  • Not previously been granted other scholarships for the same course of study, and
  • Have already successfully completed at least the first year of your course of study or at least the first 2 years of a Batchelor of Medicine/Surgery

Eligible students are invited to apply for Undergraduate Degree Courses or Diplomas for the 2009 academic year in the following fields:

  • Medicine
  • Nursing
  • and any other health related courses

What is the Scholarship entitlement?

The Scholarship currently provides an allowance of $5,000 per annum (Scholarship entitlements will be paid in two parts of $2,500 each instalment) to assist with costs associated with the course of study.

How are the Scholarships awarded?

Selection will be based on merit and consideration will be given to:

  • The course of study will lead to employment in the health and/or community services sector.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the betterment of the Indigenous Community.
  • Referee reports.
  • The ability to undertake and complete the course of study.
  • Participation in Indigenous Community.
