The Ministerial Advisory Council informs the planning and delivery of human services that are responsive to the cultural and linguistic diversity of the Victorian community.

The MACCALD provides advice on cultural and linguistic diversity issues to the four Human Services Ministers:

  • the Hon. Bronwyn Pike, MP,Minister for Health
  • the Hon. Sherryl Garbutt, MP, Minister for Community Services
  • Ms. Candy Broad, MLC, Minister for Housing, and
  • the Hon. Gavin Jennings, MLC, Minister for Aged Care.

Specifically, the Council advises the Ministers on:

  • The planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of human services to ensure that these services are responsive to the needs of persons from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and their communities;
  • The development of strategies to ensure that an awareness of multicultural issues increasingly informs the activities of the Department of Human Services and funded service providers, and is integrated into planning and service delivery;
  • Supporting and facilitating the whole-of-government approach to multicultural affairs by proposing strategies for enhancing inter-agency and inter-sectoral collaboration and communication.

Further information regarding the role of the MACCALD is outlined in the "Terms of Reference" page.
