Language services at the Department of Human Services

The Department of Human Services is committed to providing equitable and responsive human services to Victorians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Language Services - the provision of interpreting and translating - is an essential part of the delivery of services for people who speak little or no English, or whose first language is Auslan (Australian Sign Language).

The department has developed a number of supports to assist programs and funded organisations best utilise language services.  This website brings together some of these key supports, including:

  • Overview of DHS Language Services Credit Line and funding arrangements
  • Tips on organising translations
