One in five Victorians speak a language other than English at home, making access to language services (interpreting and translating) increasingly important. This educational resource has been developed to help make your work with interpreters easier. ‘Making the Connection’ consists of a series of dramatised scenes that present an insight into how best to work with interpreters in a variety of work situations. Supporting information and focus exercises/questions encourage discussion of the main points raised in each scene. ‘Making the Connection’ is available online, CD or DVD format.
The ‘Making the Connection’ online training resource contains large flash video files that will take a long time to open using a dialup internet connection, and it is recommended that you contact the Diversity unit to request a copy of either the CD or the DVD. To request a copy of 'Making the Connection' please contact: 'Making the Connection' on the web is available in two html versions - with and without frames. The scripts for all video files are available in RTF format below. The videos are also available for seperate download in mp4 format. These can be downloaded, saved and viewed at your convenience.
