The Shire of Campaspe is working towards making
all its buildings provide universal access so people with a disability
are not discriminated against.
Council has developed
a comprehensive database of all projects requiring action to address
access issues in line with the requirements of the Disability
Discrimination Act (DDA).
Some of the issues
and projects identified are already included in this year's capital
works budget and more than $683,000 has been identified for incidental
works at sites such as the Kyabram Library, Girgarre Hall, Echuca
Caravan Park and Gunbower Memorial Hall as well as for disability
access signage and guides across the municipality.
As part of the Universal
Access Plan, a further $260,000 has been allocated for budgets
over the next four years.
