Garden tours aid women’s crisis service

The Women’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service Victoria will benefit from proceeds of a tour of landscaped gardens in the City of Booroodara.

The Gardens with Style tour will take in properties in Hawthorn, Camberwell, Canterbury, Balwyn and Ivanhoe on Sunday, October 13 between 10a.m. and 4p.m.

The gardens were landscaped by David Kirkpatrick, who has been working in horticulture and designing gardens for 28 years.

While working as curator of the gardens at the University of Melbourne, David set up a sculpture park in the area of land then owned by John and Sunday Reid–now Heide Park and Art Gallery.

The Women’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service Victoria is Melbourne’s only 24-hour refuge and referral service for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

• Cost of the Gardens with Style tours is $5 for one garden or $20 for eight gardens. For more information call 9804 0330 or visit www.gardenswithstyle.d2g.com.
