A double dose of good medicine

Initially developed as a guide for the hospital’s junior doctors in the 1960s, the Royal Children's Hospital Paediatric Handbook is now widely used locally and internationally.

The handbook draws on the expertise of the staff of the Royal Children’s Hospital and provides a comprehensive practical guide to the management of health problems in infants, children and adolescents.

The 7th edition—now available—has been revised and updated and contains several new sections, including pain management, international child health and failure to thrive.

Large parts have also been reformatted making management guidelines easier to follow.

The 7th edition contains a new Online Supplement with extra links to important information available on the internet as well as information additional to the text—such as relevant tables or images and tables to the chapters—as well as any important additions or corrections to the text.

The website also links the reader to RCH clinical guidelines that are constantly being developed and updated.

The handbook is a vital tool for all health practitioners who care for children and is widely used by general practitioners, paediatric hospital medical staff and medical students alike.
