Praise from a happy mum
Marie Campbell, whose daughter Kirsty has just moved into the new
house, is delighted that she need now walk less than a kilometre
to visit, instead of having to travel via taxi to KRS.
She is looking forward to visiting more regularly and being able
to sometimes stroll to and from the new house.
To make this easier, case manager Peter Sabin put her in touch
with a firm able to re-fit a wheelchair with new tyres and a seatbelt.
Mrs Campbell has been very happy with Peters support throughout
the transition process.
I cant fault him, hes been wonderful, she
said.
Mrs Campbell was also pleased to chat to the house supervisor Richard
Landmann before the move.
He was so matter of fact and down to earth, answered all
my questions and was very reassuring.
Mrs Campbell visited the house early in the planning.
I loved it straightaway, she said.
Its so open, airy and light and I loved the view into
the backyard,
Her daughter Fiona and son Neil also visited.
Despite the support, there have been times when Mrs Campbell has
been worried about the move.
Kirsty has lived at KRS since she was 16 and Mrs Campbell was confident
of the dedication, care and concern of the staff in her old unit.
But the chance to chat to Richard and observe the thorough preparation
for the move has helped ease her concerns.
She describes herself as very content about the way
things have gone.
I know I can pick up the phone and talk to someone at any
time, as I did with the staff at KRS.
If Kirsty settles down and is happy, Ill be happy too.
