Forum focus on grief
Experts from the United States,
Israel and the Netherlands will be among guest speakers at the 8th
International Conference on Grief & Bereavement in Contemporary Society
conference.
The conference will be held at
Hilton on the Park on July 15 to 18.
Presenters will be:
• Professor
George Bonnano of Columbia University, whose research over the past 15 years
has examined how adults and children respond to and cope with extremely tragic
events, such as the death of a loved one, war, infectious disease, sexual abuse
and terrorist attack;
• Professor
Grace Christ of Columbia University’s School of Social Work;
• Professor
Robert Neimeyer, Director of Psychotherapy Research at the University of
Memphis’ Department of Psychology;
• Professor
Mario Mikulincer, Head of Psychology at the Interdisciplinary Centre in
Herzliya, Israel;
• Associate
Professor Holly G. Prigerson of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute;
• Beverley
Raphael, Professor of Population Mental Health and Disasters and Director of the
Centre for Scientific and Collaborative Investigation of Mental Health
Adversities at the University of Western Sydney;
• Margaret
Stroebe, Professor of Psychology at Utrecht University’s Department of Clinical
Psychology.
