Work on new affordable housing
for older people in Wodonga is proceeding well.
Housing Minister Richard Wynne
paid a visit to the area to inspect progress on the $2.8 million Elmwood
housing redevelopment and to meet some of the tenants who will soon move into
their new homes.
The new housing development is
bordered by Mark, Rundle, Elm and Swan Streets in Wodonga.
‘We have been working closely
with the developer, Triquest Corporation, the City of Wodonga and existing
tenants to provide more high-quality, environmentally-friendly affordable
housing to the Wodonga area,’ Mr Wynne said.
The redevelopment will deliver
79 purpose-built units for people aged over 55, including 20 affordable public
housing homes, as well as a community centre.
‘Already, 10 of the
publicly-owned homes have been completed and the tenants have moved in.
‘Another four are nearing
completion.
‘The remaining six will be
completed over the coming months,’ Mr Wynne said.
‘I’d like to welcome the tenants
as they move into their new homes and wish them all the best.’
