Conference call on drugs and alcohol

The Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and Other Drugs (APSAD) conference will follow a Science, Practice and Experience theme.

The conference will be held at Hilton on the Park, Melbourne, between November 6 and 9.

It will follow the National Drug Trends Conference on Friday, November 4 and include the Reckitt Benckiser Buprenorphine Symposium on Sunday, November 6.

The APSAD conference targets drug and alcohol workers, researchers, health and other professionals with an interest in the drug and alcohol field, recent PhD, Masters and Honours graduates, individuals and organisations representing consumers.

The theme will be represented through the choice of keynote speakers, the symposia and the abstract-driven sessions.

APSAD is dedicated to raising awareness about the problems related to the use of alcohol and other drugs and promoting improved standards in clinical practice and research into this and allied subjects.

Conference Chair Associate Professor Alison Ritter, Head of Research at Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre, is calling for abstracts and expressions of interest in holding satellite meetings, workshops and launches during the conference.

Abstracts should be 300 words for papers that outline new research findings, evaluations, policy analyses or practice experience.

These can be in any area of alcohol or drug endeavour.
