Casey Hospitals surgical ward A has just successfully treated
its 1,000 patientFrank OMeara, 85.
Mr OMeara had surgery to remove kidney stones and, after
an overnight stay, was able to return to his Oakleigh home.
Ward A began receiving patients in October 2004 but has been at
full strength since January this year.
Our 32 beds are fully open with a dedicated team of nurses,
doctors, allied health professionals and support staff looking after
a wide range of patients, said Nurse Unit Manager Kellie Rogerson.
We provide a high level of care to patients requiring diverse
surgery covering orthopaedic, general, gynaecological, plastic,
vascular, ear, nose and throat and breast surgery.
Many patients are able to return home after only a short
overnight stay.
Its been wonderful to make a dent in the elective surgery
waiting lists and to provide high standards of specialist care to
such a broad range of specialties, Ms Rogerson said.
