Thousands of locals and other people from all over Victoria took the opportunity to look around the new $376 million Austin and Mercy hospital complex.

The open day on May 7 allowed visitors to tour the Austin Health Tower, meet doctors, nurses and allied health staff and celebrate the completion of the major project before the official opening.

As an extra treat, the open day included activities for children, displays and music and a sausage sizzle.

The new Austin Hospital will deliver the broadest range of health services available at any single hospital in Victoria and features one of the largest emergency departments in the state.

The Mercy Hospital for Women will be capable of delivering 6,000 babies a year—more than any other hospital in Victoria—while continuing to provide a wide range of women’s and infant health services.
