Bumper program for Seniors Week

Robin Collins, the face of the 2004 Victorian Seniors Festival,
featured on the front of the festival program, has been dancing
her way through life for 50 years.

More than 1,000 activities will be staged across Victoria to ensure
the 2004 Seniors Festival is the best ever.
Launching the festival program Aged Care Minister Gavin Jennings
said the festivalfrom March 14 until March 21celebrated
the achievements of older people and their important contribution
to the Victorian community.
Seniors can enjoy myriad activitiesfrom a performance
by the Victorian Concert Orchestra to a public debate on Humour
in Health hosted by Rod Quantock and walking activities with
AFL legend Tom Hafey.
A highlight of the festival will be a free intergenerational
eventANZ Generations AZ Concert at the Sidney Myer Music
Bowl on Saturday, March 20.
The Seniors Festival has something for everyoneso grab
a program and plan for a great time.
Mr Jennings said the festival program was available free at Coles
supermarkets and Information Victoria.
The festival encourages the 830,000 seniors across the State
to get out and get active to ensure a better quality of life.
We have provided $156,135 in grants to assist local councils
to stage fun and active events to encourage seniors to get fit.
We are also encouraging people of all ages to spend time
together doing physical activity and building stronger relationships.
As part of the Seniors Festival, the Government will provide free
public transport for Seniors Card holders and free or discounted
entry at many of the States major tourist and cultural attractions.
Seniors Card holders will be able to travel free in metropolitan
areas for the entire eight days of the festival and free on country
rail and coach services over five daysMarch 13, March 1618
and March 20.
