Debs with a difference
Wheelchair dancers and their partners have been formally presented
to Mayor of Whitehorse Jessie McCallum and local MP Tony Robinson.
Thanks to funding from the City of Whitehorse the couples regularly
grace the dance floor at The Avenue Neighbourhood House in Blackburn
and practised enthusiastically for the debut-style event.
The debutantes were from Blackburn Aged Care Facility
and Rosden Nursing Home in East Burwood.
They danced the Pride of Erin, a ribbon dance and a barn dance.
The dances were choreographed by Nancy and Esme from Waltzing Wheels.
After the formal presentation and refreshments everyoneages
ranged from three to plus-90took to the floor for dances that
included the hokey pokey and even a conga line.
