New Director of Housing

Jennifer Westacott, who joins with Department of Human Services as Director of Housing after a career in the New South Wales public service.
Former Deputy Director-General of the NSW Department of Housing Jennifer Westacott has taken up her appointment as the Department of Human Services’ Director of Housing.

Ms Westacott joined the NSW public sector in 1985 and began her long career in that State’s Housing Department the following year.

She was Deputy Director-General from 1996 to 1999.

During this time, she led the restructure of the department’s client service delivery arm and was responsible for major reforms in client service provision, local coordination and renewal of large disadvantaged communities.

She also oversaw major reforms in the department, including the introduction of a 24-hour call centre to improve information to customers and improved coordination between the department and other agencies.

Ms Westacott was seconded to the role of NSW Health Council Executive Director in 1999.

In May 2000, Ms Westacott was appointed Department of Community Services Business Services Deputy Director-General.
