Parents and children in Highett will benefit from a new $1.8 million children’s centre that brings together a range of services for children and parents under the one roof.

Minister for Children Lisa Neville joined Bayside Mayor John Knight as well as families and children to open the Highett Children’s Centre in Livingston Street, Highett.

The centre includes a funded 30-place kindergarten program, a multi-purpose room for use by occasional care, parents’ groups and playgroups, a double unit Maternal and Child Health Service and a consulting room for use by early intervention services, a youth counsellor and family services.

The Government contributed $250,000 toward the construction of the new children’s centre. Bayside City Council contributed $1.6 million to the project.
