Endorsement for Alfred Radiology
Department

National Association of Testing
Authorities Australia CEO Tony Russell and RANZCR President Liz Kenny with
Alfred Hospital Radiology Department Deputy Director Dinesh Varma and Deputy
Chief Radiographer/Quality Manager Gillian Tickall. |
Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital has
become the first public hospital in Australia to have its Radiology Department
accredited.
The accreditation, awarded
jointly by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists
(RANZCR) and National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), recognises the
department as meeting international and RANZCR quality standards.
The Alfred now joins the 22
private medical imaging facilities that have voluntarily applied for and
received such accreditation.
‘Medical imaging is an expanding
field in Australia,’ said NATA Chief Executive Officer Tony Russell.
‘Both the RANZCR and NATA
believe it is vitally important that such facilities meet—and exceed
where possible—international and professional standards designed to
ensure the quality of the images and reports these facilities produce.
‘The Alfred should be very proud
of its achievement in becoming the first public facility in Australia to
demonstrably do so.’
The RANZCR is the leading
professional organisation for the promotion of the science and practice of the
medical specialties of Radiology and Medical Imaging (Diagnostic and
Interventional) and Radiation Oncology in Australia and New Zealand.
The College has members in Australia
and New Zealand and throughout the world.
NATA, a non-government,
not-for-profit association, is Australia’s national laboratory accreditation
authority.
