Emergency trauma seminar at Latrobe Hospital
Health professionals from all over Gippsland took part in a major
Emergency and Trauma Seminar at Latrobe Regional Hospital.
About 100 delegates from hospitals, community health centres and
affiliated emergency services from as far as Orbost, Heyfield, Omeo,
South Gippsland and West Gippsland regions joined health professionals
from the Latrobe Valley to attend the seminar.
The seminar covered a variety of trauma and emergency presentations,
including spinal trauma, fractures, submersion injuries, paediatric
epilepsy, snake bite envenomation and vehicle extrication training.
It included presentations by local and metropolitan specialists
and a trade display.
Latrobe Regional Hospital Staff Development Unit Manager Marg Radmore
said the seminar provided an opportunity for local people to take
part in a comprehensive training day within the region.
In a large area like Gippsland, there often needs to be a
coordinated response to accidents and emergency, Ms Radmore
said.
Joint seminars like this help develop a cohesive, collaborative
approach as well as improving the skills of people around the region.
