Short course offers plane language
Aviation medicine specialist David Newman will lead a Monash Medical
School Passenger Fitness to Fly short course at the Alfred
Hospital.
The seminar will address a variety of surgical and medical conditions,
patient fitness to travel, aircraft cabin environment and current
guidelines.
It will include case discussions and decision-making exercises.
Dr Newman is Head of the Aviation Medicine Unit at Monash Universitys
Department of Epidemiology and Preventative Medicine.
He spent 12 years in the RAAF as a medical officer and completed
aviation medicine courses in the U.S. and UK, including the Diploma
of Aviation Medicine through the Royal College of Physicians, London,
and a PhD in physiology.
The Passenger Fitness to Fly course will be held on Saturday,
June 19 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
