Annes initiative earns recognition

The Departments Workforce Planning and Recruitment
Units Employment Program Manager Anne Minos and the
certificate she received at the Equal Employment Opportunity
Network dinner.

A personal and professional commitment to increasing the employment
of Aboriginal people by the Department of Human Services has led
to Anne Minos nomination for an award recognising leadership
in promoting workforce diversity.
The Departments Workforce Planning and Recruitment Units
Employment Program Manager, Ms Minos was one of four finalists for
the Diversity@Work Leadership in Diversity Award in the indigenous
category.
Nominating Ms Minos for the Award, Diversity@Work Indigenous Employment
Initiatives Project Manager Olivia Jamison said she had worked on
several Department projects, including the Youth Employment Scheme
(YES), Intrain Indigenous Scholarship Program and Indigenous Employment
Strategy.
As a direct result of Annes initiatives, there has
been an increase in the number of indigenous people and people with
disabilities accessing the YES program and, for the first time,
Aboriginal people involved in the Intrain Scholarship program are
being permanently employed within the Department.
Ms Minos received a certificate commemorating her nomination at
the Equal Employment Opportunity Network dinner and awards ceremony.
Keynote speakers included inaugural Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Commission (ATSIC) Chair Lowitja ODonoghue, who emphasised
the importance of employing people from diverse backgrounds, particularly
indigenous Australians.
