Conference to discuss foster care topics

The Foster Care Association of Victoria (FCAV) State Conference on Saturday, June 22, will feature workshops on a wide range of topics.

They will include sessions on the court system, allegations of abuse, sibling sexual abuse, indigenous caring and rural issues, the impact of mental illness on natural parents, Parentzone, coping with disabilities in children, same sex foster care couples and support groups.

The Celebrating Foster Care conference—the first for FCAV—will be held at Hawthorn Town Hall.

Adolescent psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg will be keynote speaker.

He will discuss fostering the adolescent.

Department of Human Services Child Protection and Juvenile Justice Director Gill Callister will present certificates to several foster carers.

The carers have been nominated by foster care agencies.
