New bus service links health sites
|

Driver Trevor Martin about to head off on one of many bus
trips that link Peninsula Health Services five major
sites and 11 of its agencies.

Peninsula Health Service is sponsoring a weekday bus service for
easier access to health services on the Mornington Peninsula.
As well as serving 300,000 people from Chelsea to Portsea, Peninsula
Health has the added challenge of its facilities being located at
14 different sites over a large geographical area.
The bus service connects five of its major sites, providing access
to 11 agencies in Frankston, Mount Eliza and Rosebud.
Community feedback, including recommendations from its Community
Advisory Committees, helped Peninsula Health develop the project.
The new bus service, which will be trialled for three months, makes
four complete round trips a day, beginning at 8a.m. and finishing
at 6.15 each evening.
The 22-seater bus picks up and drops passengers at Frankston Hospital,
Mount Eliza Aged Care and Rehabilitation Service, Carinya Nursing
Home, Peninsula Palliative Care Unit, Frankston Rehabilitation Unit,
Frankston Community Rehabilitation Centre, Frankston Aged Care Services,
Rosebud Hospital, Jean Turner Community Nursing Home, Lotus Lodge
Hostel and Rosebud Rehabilitation Unit.
The bus will be used primarily by patients, clients and visitors.
One-way trips are $2.50.
Peninsula Health will capitalise on the transport by also using
the bus as a courier service between sites.
Tickets can be purchased on the bus and timetables are available
at Peninsula Health sites.
For more information about the service contact Belinda
Davidson on 9784 7941.
