Celebration of cultural diversity
A Broadmeadows Health Service festival has honoured NAIDOC awareness
day as part of its continuing commitment to cultural and workplace
diversity.
Broadmeadows Health services a rich and culturally diverse
community, said Broadmeadows Health Service General Manager
Maree Cuddihy.
The aim of the festivities was for us to forge closer ties
with our community.
It offered us the opportunity to recognise and appreciate
the richness of indigenous Australians culture and community
in an environment that allowed staff, patients and the local community
to come together to learn about and appreciate each other.
The Northern Health Board is committed to introducing community
consultative initiatives that ensure our community has an opportunity
to participate in our health services, said Northern Healths
Chief Executive Officer Dr Andrew Perrignon.
Artwork from the Koorie Heritage Trust was on display, guests sampled
bush tucker and festival entertainment included music and story-telling
as well as traditional dancing.
