Courses available off-campus
The Monash Institute of Health Services Research has extended its
courses in evidence-based practice to include off-campus distributed
learning in response to the growing demand for education in this
area.
Following the success of the subjects offered as part of its education
program, the Institute has developed two further modelsa Graduate
Certificate in Evidence-Based Practice or the individual subjects
as short courses.
Both are available via distance learning.
The issues of access and flexibility in learning were key considerations
when producing the models.
Existing courses in evidence-based practice offered at the Institute
are always fully subscribed very quickly.
The Graduate Certificate in Evidence-Based Practice is conducted
through Monash University and runs on a semester basis with mid-year
intake available.
The four subjects may be completed over one or two years.
Alternatively, the four subjects can be completed as short courses
directly through the Institute.
Through this model, students may elect to complete this information
independently without supervision or submit their assignments for
assessment.
In this course, students explore the history, concepts, collection
and implementation of evidence-based practice.
The subjects covered include:
Introduction to Evidence-Based Practice;
Contemporary Issues in Health Informatics;
Systematic Review of the Evidence for Treatment Interventions;
Implementation of the Evidence
