Backyard blitz for preschool
|

Brunswick preschoolers Matthew, Lucy, Lachlan, Nelson and
Kate in their kindergartens garden of diversity.
|
A mosaic orb and a bird-bath featuring the native Australian white
cockatoo and the endangered red-tail black cockatoo are key elements
of Brunswick Kinder-gartens garden of diversity.
The sculptures were designed and created by Davia McMillan, local
resident, artist and mother of a four-year-old preschooler.
They were commissioned by the Brunswick Kinder-garten parent committee
of 2001 and funded by a Moreland City Council Cultural grant.
The sculptures have pride-of-place in a fairyland garden, established
backyard blitz style in a day by the Brunswick Kinder
community, led by parent and garden designer Andrew Coghlan.
Preschoolers can now wander through a lush tropical rainforest,
paddle the canoe in the dry creek bed, perform on an elevated stage
and meander along the path into the magical land of fairytales.
