Service celebrates many years of harmony

North Yarra Community Health (NYCH) used Harmony Day to celebrate a multitude of milestones.

Among them were its Community Liaison Committee’s (CLC) 11th anniversary—the committee has met every three months and regularly attracts more than 150 people to its meetings.

To mark the anniversary, Ethnic Communities Council in Victoria chair Phong Nguyen—representing the Federation of Ethnic Community Councils of Australia in the year of its own 25th anniversary—presented award certificates and commemorative pins to NYCH and 23 members of the CLC.

Mr Nguyen also acknowledged Dr Brian Stagoll, who has chaired the North Yarra CLC since its inception.

Minister for the Aged Care Gavin Jennings, Department of Human Services North and West Region Director Brian Joyce, Neighbourhood Renewal North Manager Peter McNicol and City of Yarra Mayor Kaye Meadows took part in the Harmony Day celebrations.

Mr Jennings congratulated NYCH for its commitment to multiculturalism and for its inclusiveness.

Award recipients were Isa Agudo, Stanko Radonic, Chin Nguyen, Jean Hales, Anne Bolton, Sinh Khien, Emile Armanious, Shafiqa Naemi, Mariam Darawish, Dieu Phan, Pia Munari, Eugene Lovett, Pat Lennon, Kim Chua, Maria Vremec, Denise Lovett, Effie Tsakiridis, Guzide Besnek, Liang Ying Lin, Ruyet Vu and Geoff Barbour (representing NYCH).
