New Department of Human Services’ Community Care Director Pam White joined the Victorian Public Service in the early 1980s as a project officer in the then Department of Community Welfare Services.

Ms White left the Department of Community Welfare Services in the mid 1980s to take up a position at the then Health Commission where she managed the Commonwealth/State Child Care Centre Program.

The program was a joint initiative which saw 99 new child care centres were built.

Since the late 1980s Ms White has been involved in a wide range of programs—early intervention, maternal and child health, kindergartens and disability services.

In 1998 Ms White was appointed Regional Director for the Department’s Eastern Metropolitan Region.
