Body image conference is taking good shape

Author and former New Woman editor Cyndi Tebbel and ex-Essendon star footballer and current assistant coach Mark Harvey will be guests at the Second National Body Image Conference on September 7 and 8.

The Shape of Things to Come—Integrating Perspectives: Assessment, Treatment, Policy and Prevention conference is sponsored by Body Image and Health Inc. and Deakin University.

It is relevant to people working or interested in public health, social advocacy, media, policy, young people’s well-being and clinical and community health.

It will feature the latest Australian research on body image, social commentary, personal perspectives and practical workshops to promote excellence in community and clinical practice.

Keynote speaker will be Professor J. Kevin Thompson of the University of South Florida’s Department of Psychology.

Body Image and Health Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation aiming to work for social change—with the fitness, fashion, media and advertising industries, health and education professionals, government and the research community—so people of all shapes and sizes can feel good and care about their bodies and themselves.
