Healthy Pregnancies Healthy Babies Kit for Koori Communities Resource KitThe Healthy Pregnancies Healthy Babies Kit was developed by a project team from the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) and Onemda. The project team were supported in their work by an expert advisory committee and by the Koori Maternity Services State wide steering committee. The kit aims to develop culturally appropriate resources for Victoria and comprises a flip chart, posters and pamphlets. It was designed to be used by Aboriginal health workers, Maternal and Child Health nurses, Midwives, GPs and other health service providers who work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, their families and communities. The kit takes a holistic approach and stresses that it is an all of community responsibility to support a pregnant woman to be healthy.
PartySafeParty Safe is an initiative of the Victoria Police, funded by the PDPC, which aims to prevent and minimise alcohol and drug related incidents and anti-social behaviour from occurring at private parties throughout Victoria. The Party Safe program encourages the host/s of the party to advise their local police station about the time, date and location of the party so that Victoria Police can register this information and respond more promptly and effectively if they are called to a disturbance at the party, or in some cases briefly attend the party to check with the hosts that the party is going according to plan. Victoria Police can also provide advice on how to organise a party that will be safe and enjoyable. Advice covers how to responsibly serve alcohol, how to look after guests, and how to respond if trouble starts. For more information on PartySafe visit your local Police station.
